At a 3-minute walking distance from restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and all the star attractions of Syros, NOS Suites is situated in Nissaki overlooking the sea and the splendor of the capital town Hermoupolis. Back in the day, Nissaki was an adjoining islet at the entrance of the natural harbour of Hermoupolis. The rapid growth of the town into a powerful shipping and international transit center led to the need of Customs warehousing. Thus works commenced to connect Nissaki, which means islet in Greek, with the harbour. In 1860 the monumental marble building of the Customs Office and the Transit Warehouse were built, so merchant ships would moor at the waterfront to pass through Customs clearance.
Built on a naturally amphitheatrical site, Hermoupolis is a neoclassical beauty brimming with imposing mansions. A stroll through vibrant marble-paved streets and squares will introduce you to a scenery where neoclassicals of palatial proportions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century and amazing sea views compete for your attention.
